Things to consider when choosing your venue.

It is so easy to walk into a venue and be swept away by how gorgeous and luxurious it looks but there is so much more to consider when booking your wedding venue.

Consider what the venue is offering you in their packages and what you will need to pay extra for. Do they include the cost of hiring their linen, cutlery, entertainment, wedding cake knife? If you need to hire the extras, this could have an impact on your budget.

Is it wheelchair and pushchair accessible? Is it all on one level, are there difficult steps or stairs that could ruin your wedding guest’s day which in turn could ruin your wedding day!

Will the menu options suit all tastes? Do they cater for vegetarians, vegans, gluten free, dairy free, sugar free if that is what is needed for your guests?

Is there a bar included? Wedding guests can get rowdy if there isn’t any alcohol!

If they have an onsite coordinator, do they allow you to also have a wedding planner assisting you prior to the wedding day and on the wedding day? Some venues will say no to outside planners even though they do work very well together at other venues. I will always encourage wedding suppliers to work together and support each other and I do not understand how people can dictate to couples how they should have their wedding day. I will get off my soapbox now. If any venues are reading this and would like to enlighten me, please do.

Do they allow pets and children? You’d be surprised how many venues do not allow children at all, only allow a certain number of children or only allow them during certain times of the day. Many of us are pet lovers and want our pets included in the wedding, do they allow this to happen? Would you need to pay a higher deposit to cover any damage caused by your beloved canine?

Can you get married onsite? Do you want to get married there or get married in the local church and only have your reception there? Do they alter the fee to suit your requirements? Is it cheaper to get married on a weekday?

Can you have fireworks in the grounds? Is there a certain time that music needs to be turned off?

The list can go on and on, it is by no means complete. If you would like to speak to me about other possible questions to ask your venue and would like to find out about the services I offer, please contact me for a free, no obligation call.
